How do you setup an Apple AirPort Express to extend a wireless network not wirelessly, but through a switch already wired to the main AirPort Extreme base station?
Close AirPort Utility if is open.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the AirPort Express.
Perform a Hard Reset on the AirPort Express by holding in the reset button for 8-10 seconds and then release.
Allow a full minute for the Express to restart to a slow, blinking amber light.
Connnect the Ethernet cable to the WAN “O” port on the AirPort Express
Click the AirPort icon at the top of the Mac’s screen and wait a few seconds.
Look for the heading of New AirPort Base Station, or simply AirPort Express.
Click directly onAirPort Express.
AirPort Setup will open automatically and then take a minute to analyze the network and announce that the Express will be configured to “Extend” the network. Enter a device name for the AirPort Express that you want to use and click Next Wait a minute or two while AirPort Setup configures the Expresss.
When you see the Setup Complete message, click Done. You are done.
